AUSHAZ WEBINAR.

As part of the AUSHAZ Program the Communications and Engagement team is putting together a program of webinars.

The first one is on Tuesday 30th June:

TITLE: What Happens Inside a Hazelnut Dryer? Insights from Australian On-Farm Drying Study.

DETAILS:
Pavittar Singh Sandhu is a PhD candidate in Food Science and Technology at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). With a Master of Food Science and Technology from UNSW and a Master of Biotechnology from Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), he brings a multidisciplinary understanding of food processing, product quality, biological systems and applied research. His PhD research focuses on optimising post-harvest hazelnut processing. The broader project includes work on moisture sensing, drying behaviour, storage stability, quality preservation, and on-farm validation. One key component of this research involves mapping the performance of commercial on-farm hazelnut dryers by monitoring temperature, humidity, and airflow patterns under real farm conditions. Through this work, the goal is to develop practical, science-based tools and recommendations that can help growers improve drying efficiency, product consistency, and long-term storage outcomes.
